The Padma Organization
Giving the impoverished and Orphaned of Nepal an Opportunity to Experience a Decent Life

Welcome to the Padma Organization, where the abundance and generosity of America gives opportunity to the impoverished and orphaned in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. At Padma we are committed to finding and supporting long-term service projects, designed and implemented by the people of Nepal. Nepal is rich in intelligent, educated, compassionate people dedicated to improving their society. However, as one of the 10 poorest countries in the world, Nepal is desperately lacking financial ability to achieve such progress. The Padma Organization is designed to evaluate long-term service projects in Nepal, then find funding to support chosen projects. Padma stays involved in our projects through their duration, routinely evaluating progress within each endeavor.

The Meaning of Padma

In Tibetan and Sanskrit "padma" means lotus. In both Hindu and Buddhist traditions the lotus symbolizes the highest potential of human existence. A lotus grows from the muddy and dark waters of stagnant ponds then blooms above the water in myriad colors. In Tibet and Nepal, this transformation of the lotus from the dark muck into the beautiful colored blossoms symbolizes the transformation of the spirit, the journey from being lost to an enlightened state of boundless and equanimous loving-kindness and compassion. Acting on these principles is the constant goal of this organization.
