The Padma Organization

The Padma Organization :: Current Charitable Projects

Through close connections and relationships with Nepalese and Tibetan refugee groups, several projects were selected as viable, reliable and sustainable. These projects were chosen in large part because of the people behind them. Intelligent, compassionate, and trustworthy individuals such as Anjit Bista of the OCAYHN organization and Tsering Sangpo, a Tibetan refugee, enable Padma to function effectively. Without the honesty and reliability from within Nepali culture it would be very difficult to determine if a project's goals were service or profit based. Because of the potential for dishonesty, Padma takes great care in deciding which projects to fund. For news on the progress of any of Padma's projects check the updates page where we maintain monthly updates on each project. If you have a particular question or interest in a project please contact us and let us know.

Tibetan Nun Project

Tibetan Nun Project

The twenty five nuns of Ngoedrub Charbeb Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery near Katmandu in Nepal have been supported solely by Khenpo Ko Mo who also runs the monastery and heads Buddhist centers around the globe. Padma aims to find sponsors for the nuns at the monastery to support both the individual nuns and to help ease the financial burden on Khenpo Konchok Monlam Rinpoche so he can devote more of his time to his spiritual endeavors.

Optimistic Children And Youth Home of Nepal

OCAYHN Home

The Optimistic Children and Youth Home of Nepal (OCAYHN) provides home and schooling for impoverished and orphaned children at the first OCAYHN home built with Padma's help. We support fifteen Nepali children, providing food, education, clothing, recreation, medical needs and four employees who live with the children. Now Padma is raising funds to cover ongoing expenses for the first OCAYHN house and saving to build another home for more children to expand this important program.

Tibetan Refugee School Sponsorship

Tibetan Refugee School Sponsorship

In Tibet today there are many families who are barely able to scrape together enough to afford food and a small living space but who do not have means to send their children to school. Padma works with Tsering Sangpo, a Tibetan refugee living in Nepal who is now a teacher to provide resources and support to Nepali families so that they can educate their children. Padma and Sangpo help to make school, school uniforms and lunch available to families so that the Nepali children don't have to forgo a crucial need such as education.

Pasang Tsering, Tibetan Artist

Pasang Tsering, Tibetan Artist

The rich culture of the traditional Tibetan womens garment called the chuba has fallen into ruin in modern Tibet as the people have adopted the more affordable Chinese alternatives. The Tibetan artist Pasang Tsering, now living in Nepal, seeks to preserve the tradition and cultural history of his people by weaving antique chubas into stunning tapestries depicting natural scenes and Buddhist imagery. He gathers the precious garments from different regions of Tibet and combines the specific patterns and hues of each region into amazing works of art that celebrate the heart of his people and homeland.
